Airtable Webhooks
Spreadsheet-database hybrid. Receive events for record creates, updates, and deletes across bases.
Connecting Airtable to Hookbase
Create a source in Hookbase first — it gives you an ingest URL to paste into Airtable. Then:
- 1Create a webhook via the Airtable API: POST /v0/bases/{baseId}/webhooks
- 2Set the notificationUrl to your Hookbase ingest URL
- 3Specify the event types in the specification object
- 4The MAC secret is returned in the response — add it to your Hookbase source
- 5Note: Airtable sends cursor-based notifications — fetch full payloads via their API
Signature verification
Set the source's provider to airtable and paste the signing secret. Every request is checked before the event is stored, and anything that fails is rejected rather than quietly recorded.
- Algorithm
- HMAC-SHA256 (base64-decoded secret)
- Header
- X-Airtable-Content-MAC
- Where to find the secret
- The MAC secret is returned when creating the webhook via the Airtable API
Airtable event types
6 of the events people route most often. Hookbase accepts every event Airtable sends, whether or not it is listed here.
record.created
A record was created
record.updated
A record was updated
record.deleted
A record was deleted
field.created
A field was created
field.updated
A field was updated
table.created
A table was created
What a Airtable webhook looks like
A record.created payload. Hookbase stores the raw body exactly as it arrived, so this is also what you get back on a replay.
