Chargebee Webhooks

Connecting Chargebee to Hookbase
Create a source in Hookbase first — it gives you an ingest URL to paste into Chargebee. Then:
- 1Go to Chargebee → Settings (gear icon) → Configure Chargebee → Webhooks
- 2Click "Add Webhook", name it, and paste your Hookbase ingest URL
- 3Enable "Protect webhook URL with basic authentication" and set a username/password
- 4Add the same username/password as Basic Auth credentials on your Hookbase source
- 5Use the events dropdown to select which event types to send (defaults to all events)
Signature verification
Chargebee does not sign its webhooks with an HMAC scheme, so a signing secret on the source would have nothing to verify. Use a custom source with no secret, and keep the ingest URL itself hard to guess.
How Chargebee secures them instead: Chargebee does not support HMAC signing — webhooks are secured with HTTP Basic Authentication (username/password) set when you create the webhook, sent in the Authorization header. Chargebee also publishes a downloadable list of its sending IPs per region (US/EU/AU) if you prefer IP allowlisting.

What a Chargebee webhook looks like
A subscription_created payload. Hookbase stores the raw body exactly as it arrived, so this is also what you get back on a replay.
