Chargebee Webhooks
Subscription billing and revenue management platform. Receive events for subscription, invoice, and payment lifecycle changes.
Connecting Chargebee to Hookbase
Create a source in Hookbase first — it gives you an ingest URL to paste into Chargebee. Then:
- 1Go to Chargebee → Settings → Configure Chargebee → API Keys and Webhooks, then open the Webhooks tab
- 2Click "Add Webhook", name it, and paste your Hookbase ingest URL
- 3Turn on "Protect webhook URL with basic authentication"
- 4Enter the Username and Password Hookbase generated for this source
- 5Use the events dropdown to choose which event types to send (defaults to all events), then save
Signature verification
Set the source's provider to chargebee and paste the signing secret. Every request is checked before the event is stored, and anything that fails is rejected rather than quietly recorded.

- Chargebee doesn't sign webhooks. In Settings → Configure Chargebee → API Keys and Webhooks → Webhooks tab, turn on "Protect webhook URL with basic authentication" and enter the Username and Password Hookbase generated (or type your own pair into Hookbase to match credentials you already use). Hookbase checks the Authorization header Chargebee sends.

A new invoice was created for a subscription

A payment was successfully collected

A payment collection attempt failed

A customer's stored card has expired
What a Chargebee webhook looks like
A subscription_created payload. Hookbase stores the raw body exactly as it arrived, so this is also what you get back on a replay.
